Better care is rarely one big decision. It is a sequence of quiet daily choices that compound into a healthier life.

The Chausie cat breed was created in the 1990s by mating a French domestic cat with the cane cat. It is said that this cat breed was created with the aim of producing a fierce looking cat, especially with its loyal, loving, intelligent, large and healthy characteristics.

Character traits of the Chausie

This cat has an extremely gentle and a very intelligent personality. These cats are characterised by an extremely friendly behaviour and are known to trust others. Although they are very attached to people, they can become a total problem when angry or upset. Although they love to play like almost all other cats, the biggest difference between this cat and other cats is that they are very sensitive, helpful and talented. These cats can be counted as the only known trainable cat breed.

Positive traits

In the previous title, the personality traits of cat breeds were briefly mentioned. This cat breed is very open-minded and has successfully completed many intellectual games. However, these cats are very affectionate and loving. They show almost too much respect for the homes they live in and those who make demands. Because of this situation, this cat breed is quite good at training. Thanks to its adaptive structure, it offers great comfort to the owner and makes the owner feel at ease.

Negative characteristics

It is recommended not to leave the cat for long periods of time. As we all know, these cats hate being alone and exhibit harmful behaviour when left alone. These cats are also pets and are considered unsuitable to live outside the house, for example in the garden. They also have a nature to recognise people or animals. In other words, they do not show admiration for their surroundings or other pets, but usually for the person who takes them in. For this reason, they are also called cats that choose people.

Physical characteristics of Chausie

This cat breed has the physical characteristics of a forest cat. Its legs and body are quite long and it has developed into one of the large cats. The muzzle and the fluffy nose make this cat look very fierce. This cat breed, which has a very characteristic facial structure thanks to its upright ears, has a very thick and long neck structure. In addition, the coat colour of this cat breed, which is mostly brown tones, has a very soft skin part of the coat structure and a hard structure in the upper part.

Health characteristics of the Chausie

It should be noted that this cat suffers from a genetic polymorphism kidney disease. It is also extremely prone to this type of cardiomyopathy (myocardial disease causing heart failure) and also includes a disease affecting cartilage and bone development called osteochondrodysplasia or degenerative joint disease. This disease mainly affects the tail, ankles and knees, resulting in limited mobility and difficulty moving.

Care and nutrition tips for the Chausie

This cat breed does not differ from other cats in terms of diet. In general, all foods suitable for other cats are suitable for this breed. Wet or dry, this variety and any other food is sufficient to meet the needs of this breed. It has also been observed that some people eat this grain-free cat breed.

While grooming, cat breeds should be groomed once or twice a week. This will prevent the formation of hairballs. It is recommended that you start trimming your nails at a young age. This method is considered the most correct, so cats that are used to having their nails trimmed over time will not cause problems in the future. The cat should live in a house that is not structured enough to live outside. The house should always be kept clean and fresh. Otherwise the cat will feel uncomfortable.

Information about reproduction of Chausie

The Chausie should never mate with its own breed during breeding. This is necessary so that genetic diseases in the body are not transferred to other breeds. Otherwise, the next newborn breed will become ill and the result may be the birth of a handicapped breed. For this reason, special attention should be paid to breeding studies with own breeds and, if necessary, the help of a veterinarian should be sought. Otherwise the offspring will become ill. In this way, this cat breed will not show any obvious deterioration and proper precautions will be taken to prevent sick kittens. This cat can give birth to 6 to 8 kittens.
